33: Metaverse and Network State Synergy // Mayur Mistry

Background:

Mayur Mistry is the Founding Member of ArchiDAO. He is also one of the lead web3 developers working on decentralized city infrastructure, fractionalized real estate, and open-source tools at CityDAO. In ArchiDAO, they aim to push the boundary in the Architecture, Engineering & Construction Industry with a blockchain and web3 native approach. Mayur and his team in ArchiDAO are focused on developing web3 integrated solutions in metaverse and blockchain in both physical & digital domains.

Mayur is a multidisciplinary design engineer who is passionate about integrated design solutions for the built environment along with a better lifestyle and experience of occupants. He became the first civil engineer to be awarded IIT Bombay Tech Person of the Year Award and represented India at Solar Decathlon China competition. In his leisure time, Mayur is usually busy working on passion projects and solving challenging problems.

Time-Stamped Show Notes:

  • 2:19 Mayur talks about what ArchiDAO is all about.
  • 3:12 Crypto twin is one of the projects that ArchiDAO is working on today.
  • 5:38 Mayur provides an example of a short-term use case of ArchiDAO.
  • 7:04 More explanation and discussion about ArchiDAO and the workflow they are providing.
  • 9:02 The role of VR and the metaverse within a network state.
  • 11:03 ArchiDAO is where they not only train architects in real estate but also leverage their expertise. They are also aiming towards a network state design as their service.
  • 12:35 Using CItyDAO as an example, Mayur describes what a building and digital meeting space will look like in an online community.
  • 14:40 In terms of creating a metaverse building, Mayur says that they don’t have any limits on digital real estate.
  • 15:58 Mayur explains how a digital community can benefit from digital architecture.
  • 17:14 Eric shares a story of his bizarre experience with VR or virtual reality.
  • 19:32 A town square virtual space for an online community will need several useful features with efficient layout and architectural design. Both Eric and Mayur offer their own ideas on what the town square virtual space will look like.
  • 21:24 Creating a town square virtual space will take about a month but it will also depend on the budget.
  • 22:42 Eric recommends going to Spatial to customize a 3D virtual room, which will help the listeners understand the entire concept of this interview.
  • 25:57 ArchiDAO is developing metrics that could help measure connection in the metaverse. However, Eric points out that they are measuring engagement and not connection.
  • 27:58 Network state hosting as a service is an idea that Mayur plans to create soon in order to measure connection in the metaverse.
  • 29:43 For people who want to experience going into a metaverse meeting space, Mayur recommends Spatial.
  • 30:12 Mayur provides more suggestions for people who want to take the next step in exploring the metaverse.
  • 31:22 Decentraland and Sandbox are just some of the platforms that Mayur suggests when getting into the metaverse experience.
  • 32:10 Mayur thinks that the future of a network state will incorporate VR and metaverse.
  • 34:16 For Mayur, network cities have many layers of complexities attached into it. He suggests creating a modular framework that will offer smaller and achievable milestones that will help in building a network state.

Key Points from the Interview:

  1. “ArchiDAO is providing the infrastructure layer for having decentralized design execution. So, what I mean by that is if you can imagine a real estate metaverse and blockchain and from overlapping Venn diagram, that’s where we are providing a decentralized design as a service. So, first, it’s a studio where architects are leveraging their spatial modeling and programming to enhance the communication protocols and also execute in real life.”
  2. “All the trends I’m seeing, we are moving and increasing towards a spatial presence, so let’s say all your website were you’re selling shoes will allow an AR/VR component. And with this as we have website, which hyperlinks which goes to another website will have portals where it’s a network state A CityDAO has a portal to network state B, which is a coworking network state. So having these portals of experiences interconnected, hyperlinked could be a future we could foresee.”
